King prawns with ginger and garlic make a tasty meal when served with chopped avocado or salad or your favourite green vegetables.
King prawns with ginger and garlic is really simple to make. The delicious taste is so worth the chopping time.
You will need a heavy duty ovenproof china cooking dish. I use a quite deep one.
1kg green king prawns, heads off and peeled, rinsed well
1 bulb garlic, peeled and chopped
1 large knob ginger, peeled and chopped
50g unsalted butter
Optional: bunch of spring onions, cleaned and chopped
Chop some butter and spread over the base of the baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped garlic and ginger. Add the first layer of peeled prawns, then sprinkle with more ginger and garlic. Then repeat with additional layers of prawns sprinkled with garlic and ginger. If using spring onions, add these with the garlic and ginger. Then chop the remaining butter and place on top.
Place dish uncovered in a preheated oven at 160 degrees Celsius and cook for around 20 minutes or until all prawns have cooked through. Stir prawns through melted butter, ginger and garlic and serve on bed of vegetables or salad or chopped fresh avocado.
